Cabling

< prev next >

Cabling a tree is a technique to attempt to save a tree that has either started to split apart or is showing signs of possible separation. Methods of cable installation are as follows:

  1. Two lag bolts are threaded directly into the tree and then a cable is attached to the two lag bolts.

  2. Two anchor bolts are placed through the affected limbs. A large nut and washer are then attached to the ends. After this has been accomplished, a cable is then fastened between the two anchor bolts.
