Crown Reduction
This type of trimming is used to reduce the height of a tree. There can be several reasons for crown reduction. The most common reason is that the tree has become too tall for its location. Because of the tree's height, the possibility of breakage has increased thus becoming a safety issue. It is also susceptible to wind damage. Much like a sailboat, by lowering the sails, naturally the sails will catch less wind. Rather than completely removing the tree, crown reduction allows the tree to be preserved.
